Meetings Past

Tuesday, January 8, 2002
Ramada Inn
Bedford, Ma. 01730

Our first meeting of the year was very lively with many members attending. Show and Tell was one of our largest.

The O'Hara Dial Company
This month our speaker was Gerrit Nijssen. His slide presentation was on the famous O'Hara Dial, starting in 1890 as the Waltham Watch Dial Company. Picture of Daniel O'Hara at left. Click image for larger view (you will also be able to read caption).

In addition to Gerrit's O'Hara exhibit, many other members brought in O'Hara items to share, ranging from exquisite dials to business cards to pin boxes to buttons to coasters. Jon Hanson had several beautiful items and also brought copy of Bulletin article, "Waltham Dial Company", April, 1956, Vol. VII, No.3, pages 123-129.

Sorry we didn't get a picture of Gerrit, but his slides were more interesting. Click images for larger view.
During show and tell, Frank Menez gave a presentation on the conversion and alterations of an old English Lantern Clock.
