WORKSHOPS AND PROGRAMS

9:45 AM. "A report on the Ward Francillon French Clock Conference." David Hagburg, assisted by his son, Andrew, will present the carefully researched lectures given at the conference focused on the social, economic and political events of the time and how the clock industry responded to those conditions. David Hagberg was born into the clock world - His father, the late Kenneth Hagberg, trained with Worcester watchmaker Gus Lahde as a teenager, and later worked for Bradford W. Cheney as well as independently. David worked for Bruce Cheney for several years and, as a schoolteacher now, David is mentoring his son, Andrew, in the craft.

10:45 AM. "Watch Jewelling Tools and Staking sets." Wayne Lannon's presentation will cover the use of watch jewelling tools and staking sets. Specifically, the Seitz jewels, bushings and tools. Besides jewelling this tool can be used for measuring, hole reduction and adjusting levers. Also, the K&D staking set, using the punches and stumps, will be discussed. Wayne is a retired engineer who has been repairing watches for over 30 years. Wayne is a life member of the AWCI. He has served as President of The Massachusetts WCA and is currently the Treasurer of the same. Also, Wayne taught watch repair at night school for several years.

12:00 Noon. Lunch and Annual Chapter Business Discussion

1:00 PM. "Time Travel: Moving a Joseph Mayer Street Timepiece from Lakewood, Washington to Massachusetts." In late 2013 Peter Nunes was asked to travel to the Seattle area to dismantle a Joseph Mayer two dial street timepiece and transport it to Massachusetts. While this presentation is more of a travelogue than a technical piece about Joseph Mayer and his clocks, it is a good introduction to Joseph Mayer and his connection to the Howard Clock Co. of Boston. Peter has been a member of the NAWCC since 1971, and has published two articles in the Bulletin and many in the Cog Counter's Journal. He is Past President of Chapter 8, past Chairman of Cog Counters, and former president of the American Clock & Watch Museum. Peter's primary horological interest is in wooden movement early American clocks and their makers..
